On celebrating the Russian Diplomats’ Day in Mauritius

On the 8th of February 2019 the Embassy of the Russian Federation in collaboration with the Coordinative Council of Russian Compatriots (CCRC) in Mauritius and the Association of Mauritian graduates from Soviet and Russian universities “MAURUSS” organized a special event on the occasion of the Russian Diplomats’ Day.

Within the framework of this event, the Russian Ambassador to Mauritius
H.E. Mr. Konstantin Klimovskiy described in details the history of the Russian diplomatic service. At the same time, the presentation prepared by the Embassy and dedicated to the main figures of our diplomacy and events which played the most important role in our history was demonstrated to the guests.

Pupils and teachers of the Russian educational center “Teremok” performed famous poetical works and songs devoted to the diplomatic service comprising the poem by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov “Ambassadorial department” and songs of Russian famous composers.

A part of the program was dedicated to the memory of the former Russian Ambassador in Turkey H.E. Mr.Andrey Karlov, who tragically died in 2016. Poems written in memory of him were read.

The Russian Ambassador also performed a poem by one of the brightest diplomats of 80-90s, Deputy Foreign Minister from 1994 to 1999 Mr.Victor Posuvalyuk.

At the end of the concert, the record of the song made by Russian senior students of the Moscow State University of International Relations and young staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry dedicated to the diplomatic service was played from the screen.

The gallery of Soviet and Russian Ambassadors working in Mauritius in different years was presented to the participants while the President of the CCRC Mr.Olga Bogacheva demonstrated the exhibition of paintings “I draw Russia” prepared by pupils of the Lyceum “Labourdonnais” which was warmly welcomed by the guests.

In conclusion of the event a festive cocktail with traditional dishes of Russian kitchen was proposed to the guests.
