On the reception on the occasion of the Russian National Day
H.E. Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius Mr.P.Vyapoory, the Honourable Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius Mr.P.Jugnauth, the Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly Mrs. S.Hanoomanjee, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of the Republic of Mauritius Mr. S.Lutchmeenaraidoo, the Right Honourable Minister Mentor, Minister of Defence, Minister for Rodrigues Sir A.Jugnauth, the Honourable Minister of Arts and Culture Mr. P.Roopun, the Honourable Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms Mr. M.Boissezon, the Honourable Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security Mr. M.Seeruttun, the Honourable Minister of Tourism Mr. A.Gayan, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mrs. U.Dwarka Canabady, Lord Mayor of Port Louis Mr. D.Laurent, Commissioner of Police Mr. M.Nobin and the Head of the Mauritian Fire and Rescue Service Mr. L.Pallen were present at the event.
Moreover, heads and members of diplomatic missions, accredited to the Republic of Mauritius, members of the coordinating council of Russian compatriots, resident in Mauritius, as well as the Mauritian graduates from Soviet and Russian Universities and representatives of social, political and business sectors of the country also participated in the reception.
In his address, the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius H.E. Mr.K.Klimovskiy described the large scale celebrations organized together with the Mauritian side in March 2018 on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mauritius. He expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between the both countries in the UN fora and other international meetings and gave details on further steps aiming to develop the mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of higher education, fisheries, tourism, finance and banks etc. The Ambassador announced the issue of the anniversary stamp, dedicated to the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations as well as the beginning of the project of installing a bust of Alexander Pushkin in Port Louis.
After the official ceremony H.E. Mr.K.Klimovskiy showed to the high officials the photo exhibition devoted to the history of bilateral diplomatic relations and the upcoming World Cup 2018 that will start in Russia on the 14th of June.
During the reception the video representing the Yekaterinburg city bidding for EXPO 2025 was demonstrated.
Journalists from the MBC and several Mauritian newspapers were present during the event.
