An Article by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Mauritius, published in Le Mauricien Newspaper on July 29, 2020
This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We pay tribute to those who gave their lives for a peaceful future. We speak of the necessity to mind the lessons of the past and of the fact that it is crucially important for all states all over the globe to do their best to prevent the start of a new war. However, some political forces of the West as well as a number of Western mass media have set a different goal. Based on momentary and opportunistic considerations they are trying to distort the decisive role of the USSR in achieving the Victory, despite the fact that our country took the brunt of the Nazi war machine. We believe that the Mauritian young generation, the citizens of which fought on the fronts of World War II as a part of the British army, should also know the truth about those distant events. In this regards the Ambassador of The Russian Federation to the Republic of Mauritius, published an article on this issue in Le Mauricien newspaper on the 29th of June, 2020.
