On Meetings and Contacts of the Russian Ambassador in Mauritius
During events organized by the Mauritian Party on the occasion of the New Year, H.E. Konstantin Klimovskiy had an opportunity to hold conversations with the Honourable Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, with whom he exchanged opinions regarding the overall state of bilateral relations, as well as with the Honourable Mr. Louis Steven Obeegadoo, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Mauritius, with whom discussed issues concerning enhancing ties in the sphere of tourism. H.E. Konstantin Klimovskiy also met with the Hon Mrs. Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Mauritius. The conversation was focused on cooperation in the field of higher education and the teaching of Russian in the Mauritian educational institutions.
The Russian Ambassador was also received by H.E. Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun, the President of the Republic of Mauritius. The parties considered the ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various domains, including the upcoming Second Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for the autumn 2022.
Mr. Konstantin Klimovskiy held extensive discussions of the practical questions of the Russian-Mauritian relations with H.E. Dr. Kheswar Jankee, the Ambassador of Mauritius in Moscow, who was on vacation on the island, as well as with Mr. Roy Bissoondoyal, the newly appointed Director of the Department of Asia, Middle and Near East and Russia.
The Ambassador maintained a regular contact with Dr. Gatot Hari Gunawan, the acting Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in light of the adhesion of the Russian Federation to the Organisation as the Dialogue Partner.
Furthermore, the newly appointed Heads of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of South Africa, the UK and the People’s Republic of China paid courtesy visits to the Russian Ambassador.
