Russian Language Day in Mauritius

On June 6, on the Birthday of the great Russian poet and the founder of the modern Russian literary language Alexander Pushkin Russia and the whole world celebrate the Russian Language Day. On this date, according to a good tradition, which was born two years ago, the activists from among Russian compatriots permanently residing in Mauritius, the mauritians graduated from Russian and Soviet universities, as well as Russian diplomats lay flowers at the bust of Alexander Pushkin, installed by the Embassy in one of the parks of Port Louis, and arrange a poetry festival. This year, due to the quarantine imposed by the local authorities in the consequence of the coronavirus pandemic, mass events could not be held. However, the Russians, being thousands kilometers away from their motherland, arrived to meet with their favorite poet to pay tribute to his bright genius once again.
